Bus Association Victoria (BusVic) has released a study of car ownership throughout Melbourne using 2006 census data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics. According to the study “the map shows low levels of car ownership in many places where there is a dense network of high quality public transport. That suggests that high frequency public transport routes operating from early to late in multiple directions is an enabler for people to choose not to own a car”.
